Caffèsport Orchestra is the artistic project led by Francesco Franz Senni, a Romagnolo artist who during the summer runs a fried-food restaurant on the beach in Cesenatico, while in the winter, as soon as he can, he can't wait to throw on his apron and gather up some of his clients, who have in the meantime become friends and fellow musical ramblers. This is the Caffèsport Orchestra, a line-up featuring various well-known musicians from different musical areas, from ballroom to pop music, passing through the independent scene.
The story began in 2001, Franz had opened the summer fish fry at the Caffèsport Lambretta, business was going pretty well, but he was sad. His beautiful fiancée had left him after an epic trip to Bolivia/Holland/Peru, she had decided to exchange their love for a new pair of rollerblades and... after the sarcasm, the anger, the titanic calf reaction, he slipped inexorably into the blackest sadness.
Not knowing whom to give all his love to, Franz opted for a piano and locked himself inside the Lambretta to write songs. Then, with a group of customers/artists from the Caffèsport, he wrote what became their debut record ‘The historic Chihuahua makes no sense without you’. This is how the Caffèsport Orchestra was born: many soldout concerts and much enthusiasm, the Bielle Award as best debut album, the Mei Award as band of the year 2005, a signature for Rai Trade for the licence of ‘chihuahua’...
Their second disc was released in 2012 with another epic title: ‘...and to think I only came to buy a swordfish’.
The music of the Caffèsport Orchestra plays on balances between folk drifts, Liscio (the popular dance music from Romagn), Caribbean references and Italian singer-songwriting from the 1970s.
