Kerala Dust is a London-born, European-based project led by Edmund Kenny, whose sound fuses electronic beats with the raw energy of blues, Americana, and hypnotic club music. Formed in 2016, the project initially emerged as a trio, featuring Kenny on vocals and electronics, Harvey Grant on keys, and Lawrence Howarth on guitar. Now a solo endeavour, Kerala Dust continues to evolve, reflecting Kenny’s deep exploration of both digital soundscapes and traditional songwriting.
Drawing inspiration from a wide spectrum of musical icons—ranging from the gravel-voiced Tom Waits to the experimental pulse of Talking Heads, and the atmospheric depth of Abdulla Rashim—Kerala Dust seeks to transcend the boundaries between electronic experimentation and heartfelt narrative. With a sound rooted in the noisy anonymity of South London, the project channels the city's chaos and beauty into a rich, immersive auditory experience.
Whether in the solitary creation of studio work or the expansive energy of live performances, Kerala Dust offers a space where listeners can dance to haunting rhythms, while contemplating the disorienting complexity of modern existence. There is no singular answer, no clear resolution—only the freedom that comes from embracing the uncertainty. The project is an invitation to lose yourself in the music, only to realize, perhaps, that losing yourself is exactly the point.
