La Metralli is a musical project that blends auteur music with electric, electronic, and acoustic elements, creating a sound that straddles alternative rock and experimental pop. Formed in 2011 by singer Meike Clarelli and eclectic guitarist Matteo Colombini, the band was later joined by guitarist Marcella Menozzi and multi-instrumentalist/producer Davide Fasulo.

In their early years, La Metralli made an immediate impact with the release of their debut album Del mondo che vi lascio (2011), followed by the EP La Metralli in 2012. The standout track "Piovevo" won Italy's prestigious Ciampi Award for lyrics and music, along with recognition from FIMI for its arrangements and the SIAE award. Their 2013 track "Prima che il vento" was featured in the ABC series Missing, and the band’s second studio album, Qualche grammo di gravità, was hailed as one of the best albums of 2014 by the Premio Tenco committee.

The band’s innovative spirit was further showcased in their animated video for Cantico dei viaggiatori, which was selected for the New York International Independent Film Festival. Their music continued to resonate globally, with Prima che il vento being synced for BBC’s Elementary in 2016.

La Metralli’s third album, Lanimante (2017), followed by Ascendente (2019), marked a refined, mature sound. Ascendente also featured a unique reworking of the traditional folk song “Son la mondina son la sfruttata,” at the request of the Coro delle Mondine di Novi, further demonstrating the band's versatility.

The name "Metralli" captures the essence of their music: a fusion of old and future sounds, melancholic and ironic tones, folk and electronic elements, all converging into a style they describe as Avantique—a transmutation of diverse musical worlds into one.
