Maurício Tagliari, born in São Paulo, Brazil, on November 5th, 1961, is a renowned musician, producer, and composer whose eclectic career spans jazz, classical, and Brazilian music. His musical journey began at the age of 11, learning from his father, an amateur musician. By 13, he was studying at CLAM, the prestigious music school founded by the legendary bossa nova group Zimbo Trio, where he honed his skills in harmony, improvisation, and composition with notable Brazilian musicians such as Nico Assunção, Luís Chaves, and André Geraissaiti.
A graduate in Social Communication from the University of São Paulo (USP), Maurício worked at Polygram and later as a music producer at the DPZ advertising agency. In 1987, he co-founded Nouvelle Cuisine, a jazz band that became a key player in Brazil’s cultural scene. His passion for music production led him to found ybmusic in 1992, a company that became a significant force in Brazilian music, producing soundtracks for advertising and launching renowned talents like Nina Becker, Tulipa Ruiz, and Nação Zumbi.
As an A&R and producer at ybmusic, Maurício won numerous prestigious awards, including multiple APCA (São Paulo Art Critics Association) honors, such as Best Album ("Samba Power", 2005) and Best Composer (Badi Assad, 2012). His label also received accolades, including Best Music Publishing House at the 2016 Prêmio Profissionais da Música.
In addition to his work in music production, Maurício has composed scores for feature films and TV series, including "Traição" (1998) and various projects for Canal Brasil, such as Cada Canto and Forró Eterno - 100 anos de Luiz Gonzaga. As a solo artist, he released two albums, MAô: Contraponto e Fuga da Realidade (2019) and MAô: Falta de Estudo #1 (2020), further cementing his versatility as a composer and performer.
